Dargate Auction Gallery is housed in a five story building in East Liberty. The top floor was 11,000 s.f. of raw warehouse space with concrete walls and floors up to 12 inches thick. The scope of work included transforming the space into a large, contemporary style two bedroom penthouse loft including an open living room area, kitchen, dining room and huge outdoor porch. An elevator opens onto the fifth floor hall where guests are greeted with a 16 foot long, six foot high Art Deco etched panel salvaged from the old Schenley Hotel. J. Francis Company created a wall frame for the glass panels as well as a 25 foot custom built fish tank. A curved glass block wall runs through the master bedroom separating it from the bathroom and hot tub area. The 11 1/2 foot ceiling was cut around mushroom-shaped columns. They were painted by Interior Designer Bruce Adlard a red/burgundy hue, as seen in the photo.
"That you were able to take a preliminary set of plans or in some cases, only a designer's ideas and create exactly what I envisioned was superb. The moveable wall you designed and built to hold the two-ton Art Deco glass panel is a work of art. Your company's attention to the details of the improvements to my gallery, along with their commitment to getting the job done in an efficient and non-invasive manner was invaluable to me personally and professionally. Your crew always left their work areas in a clean and orderly state. This was extremely important to me as the work was being done in highly visible areas. It is hard to find any service, let alone one in construction, that combines the flexibility and affordability you have given me."
